Where things stand
The Roadmap
Alpha 2026. Here's what works today, what's landing for it, and what's coming after.

⬢ Here now 1 / 19
-
✦ ⬢ Working nowSelf-hosted 3D VTT
A native 3D client and licensed host you run on your own hardware. No browser tab.
Built in Rust, not a browser or Electron wrapper. The free Client handles play and building; the licensed Host package can run the server on one normal laptop or VPS. Your maps and characters stay with that host.
-
✦ ⬢ Working nowReal-time + free-form movement
A round clock, and tokens move anywhere. Turn-based and the grid are still there when you want them.
One shared game state, viewed however your table plays: a real-time round clock or classic initiative order, free positioning or a hex/square grid. Switch anytime, mid-session.
-
✦ ⬢ Working nowFair rolls
Provably fair dice. Nobody, not even the GM, can rig or precompute a roll.
The dice seed is locked before the session and revealed after. That means no one can predict or forge a roll while you play, and once the seed is out, every roll can be checked. Fair, and provably so.
-
✦ ⬢ Working nowNothing gets fudged
Replay any session move for move, and nothing in its history can be quietly rewritten.
Every action is written to a signed, append-only log (a deterministic ledger). You can replay the whole campaign from the start, and if anything was altered after the fact, it won't check out. Your history is permanent and tamper-evident.
- ⬢ Working now
Dynamic lighting & line-of-sight
Per-token lighting, fog of war, and walls that block sight, in 3D.
Light sources carried by tokens, fog of war, and sight blocked by real 3D walls instead of painted lines. Stays smooth on a big map full of tokens.
- ⬢ Working now
Map editor + UVTT import
Build maps in the editor, or import ones you already have.
Make maps in the built-in editor, or import the UVTT format exported by tools like Dungeondraft, Arkenforge, and Dungeon Alchemist.
- ⬢ Working now
Procedural dungeons & caves
Generate a dungeon or cave instead of drawing every wall.
Generators lay out caves and dungeons for you in seconds. Tweak the result, keep what you like, and sit down closer to ready instead of drawing walls all evening.
- ⬢ Working now
Table essentials
Tokens, drawing tools, conditions, HP tracking. The everyday tools.
The basics every table needs: tokens, drawing and measuring tools, condition tracking, and HP. Nothing exciting, all present.
-
✦ ⬢ Working nowSculpt the terrain
The ground is real. Generate hills and caves, then dig and build by hand.
Terrain isn't a flat picture, it's actual ground. Generate rolling hills and caves, then carve into them or build them up with sculpting brushes. Dig a tunnel mid-session and the world updates around you.
- ⬢ Working now
Multiplayer on a LAN
A licensed host runs the server; free Clients on the same network join and play live.
Start HexBench Host and others join through the free Client. Everyone stays in sync, and someone joining late catches up automatically. Playing over the internet is on the way.
- ⬢ Working now
Persistent worlds
Your worlds save and survive a restart.
Your world saves as you play and reloads exactly where you left off. Close the app, come back next week, pick up mid-scene.
- ⬢ Working now
Rhai scripting
A sandboxed scripting layer for rules, macros, and triggers.
Rhai is a small, safe scripting language built in. Write rules, macros, and triggers, and even the UI panels are scripts you can edit and reload live, no recompile.
- ⬢ Working now
Plugin SDK (MIT)
Build modules, systems, and themes. Share them or sell them, no cut.
An MIT-licensed SDK for real compiled plugins, not just scripts. Add whole game systems, content modules, or themes, and sell them or give them away. I don't take a cut.
-
✦ ⚒ Building nowCustom character creator
Sculpt your character in 3D and watch it move while you work.
A real 3D character creator, not a portrait picker. Shape the body with dials on a live model that stays animated while you edit, and the camera moves to whatever you're working on. On the rules side, every option is shown, and choices you can't take yet are greyed with the exact reason, so you always see the whole build.
- ⚒ Building now
Faithful PF2e combat
The real rules, run properly.
Pathfinder 2e's actual combat rules, run properly, not a loose approximation. The full three-action economy, conditions, and math.
- ⚒ Building now
Interactive character sheets
Live sheets that fit whatever system you're running.
Sheets that update live as you play, HP, spell slots, conditions. The system plugin defines the layout, so the sheet always fits the game you're running.
- ⬡ Coming
More official rulesets
5e SRD, Black Flag, Cairn 2e, Ironsworn, and a generic system.
Beyond Pathfinder 2e: D&D 5e (SRD), Black Flag, Cairn 2e, Ironsworn, and a generic system for homebrew.
- ⚒ Building now
Play across the internet
The same multiplayer, over the internet instead of a local network.
Direct connections over the internet already work if you can forward a port, with reconnect and catch-up handled for you. What's left is making it effortless through home routers, no networking homework.
- ⚒ Building now
UI that feels like a game
Handcrafted game UI. No floating browser windows, no spreadsheet panels.
The interface is built like a game's, not a web app's: a crafted workbench frame, party members on torn paper scraps with inked names and wax seals. The rule inside the project: if a panel looks like a website, it gets rebuilt.
